
LRT (Light Rail Transit) Stations - Mashhad Iran

The Mashhad Light Rail Transit (LRT) is a rapid transit urban rail line in Mashhad, Iran.
It is the second rapid transit system in Iran. The project has been known by a number of terms, including "light rail", "light metro", "urban rail", and "metro". Though the system's full grade-service fully qualify it as a rapid transit.
The idea for design of these stations were to provide an active urban characteristics for the sunken courtyards, and to provide stepped up green terraces and views to the linear green central axis of the boulevard.
The platforms are covered for the conveniency of the passengers and as an architectural sign for the stations with very light steel structures. The idea of minimalism as well as applying new materials and detailings within an experimental workshop framework, where the key issue of design approach.
Line 1 was the first line to be built went into contruction phase in year 2001 between Nakhrisi in the east
and Vakilabad in the southwest – reached a total of 24 stations (13 underground, 11 on-ground)
with 24 kilometres (15 miles) of track (15.5 kilometres (9.6 miles) in tunnels, 8.5 kilometres (5.3 miles) on-ground.
